We have had three sets of twins since the weekend - each ewe had one ram lamb and one ewe lamb which suits us perfectly. One of the ewes, Sarah, had mastitis last summer so we have taken one of her lambs away and we are rearing it on our Shepherdess feeder. The lamb is called Ella and she is really getting the hang of the feeder now. See below for photos.
After a long wait, and six months' quarantine, our new ram, Dun-Mor Yogi Bear (pictured above), arrived yesterday from Scotland. As you can see, he is settling in well - he is with our homebred shearling ram, Stonecroft Samurai, and the two of them are already fast friends.
Samurai (pictured below), who is sired by Dun-Mor Ultimate, will be our main breeding ram for the two-horned ewes this year, and Yogi Bear will be used on the four-horn ewes.
Last week, Nigella gave birth to the first of the lambs sired by Border Marengo. She had twin ram lambs but unfortunately one was born dead. The other lamb is the image of his father and is doing really well. Lots more ewes are due to lamb in the coming week so watch this space for photos!
